A FIRST SOUNDTRACK
"Under Streetlight" marked the beginning of Pedro’s collaborative journey with his university friend and film student, Xion-Li. In 2019, Pedro approached Sebastian with the proposal to compose an original score for his 30-minute short film, a remarkable project that Sebastian had created during his teenage years.
The musical landscape of "Under Streetlight" weaves together elegant piano melodies, gradually building toward a climactic fusion of multiple instruments. Each motif within the score resonates deeply with the various emotions and episodes in the characters' lives. The simplicity of the piano melodies reflects the innocence of the young characters, while each note is meticulously chosen to honour the profound emotional layers of the narrative.
Under Streetlight was Pedro’s debut work for the screen and marked the beginning of a long collaborative period with Sebastian Li. The film dated from 2016, however it only received its original soundtrack in 2019, after Pedro and Sebastian met in their first year at university. This was the first opportunity for Pedro to have a professional take on his music composition. Indeed, this soundtrack shows the composer’s expertise in generating beautiful melodies that fitted the moods of the screen.
